Herbs I love

To get to know the herbs I use and see them as old friends, is important, it allows me to know how and when to use them. They speak to us in their own magical way, just take some time and listern. My oldest friend is Stellaria media - Chickweed.

A delicate fragile green weed, with the most exquisite delicate white flower - like a star amongst its green leaves. It has a row of hair only on one side of its delicate stem, easily discerned against the light.

It can be found all over the world. It hides in shady sheltered spots where it can absorb moisture, in order to grow its wispy willowy stems. I Perth it can be found in the winter and spring, before the harsh hot summer sun sends it into hiding for another year.

Loved by many. Chickweed can be used in a nutritious salad or the juice can be used a s a wonderfully soothing skin emollient - crushing the leaves and rubbing it over irritated skin.

How wonderful is nature, Gods gifts to us all - one weed to heal and feed us.
